A serious of analytical methods have been developed for determination of natural and anthropogenic radionuclides in the environmental samples in the past decades. These methods have been widely used for investigation of environmental radioactivity and tracing water mass movement and interaction in the ocean and dispersion and deposition of aerosol bearing pollutions in the atmosphere. With the increased requirement on the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, a serious of analytical methods  were also developed and applied for characterization of nuclear waste from the decommission of nuclear facilities in Denmark and other Nordic countries. In this work, a brief introduction of the research group in DTU Nutech on the radiochemical analysis, environmental radioactivity, tracing studies of environmental process and characterization of decommissioning waste is given.
