The first data acquisition period at the most sensitive gravitational wave detectors of the world finished on 12 January 2016. The sensitivity of the Advanced LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) system in the USA was significantly increased last autumn. What kind of results can be expected from the new data? Why would be essential to observe gravitational waves?
